SC camp 2006
SC camp was a blast, and I'm not just saying it. Objectives were achieved, and it couldn't happen without those amazing enthusiastic people in the camp. We laughed a lot, we enjoyed a lot, we were inspired and we learned.
I got a fair share of guys and girls in my group, Sixers from the level council. TJ, Weijie and Yixiang for the guys, Gillian, Kimberly and Sumei for the girls. No Year 3s, but I couldn't been happier for the group members I got.
Street chase on the third day-- The Amazing Race equivalent was a perfect time to showcase our spirit and team work. Kimberly is the living bus guide and tour guide. She knew where each place was and what bus to take. And our bus guide was like our saviour of some sorts. Sumei is the one with the laughing gas. Everytime she laughed I'd have this crazy urge to laugh too. Gillian is friendly and easy to get along with, albeit a little shy and reserved. But she opened up in the end too! TJ is this crazy talkative guy no one could shut him up. But anyway he's like the ladies' guy in SC with all the girls crazy over him so what can I say, glad you're in my group! I have this vision he's going to grow up like the cuter version of Chua Meng Shuen. Yixiang is the energetic one with all the funny comments and corny jokes, which proved to be quite a good entertainment source. Weijie is the all-time nice guy, when he helped the old lady to carry her bags and talked to her, and when jay-walking is on his conscience. And like the video says, Weijie, never be ashamed of a good deed.
We were the 2nd last on Day 2 but we got 2nd (from the top) because we came in first for Street Chase! We reached the hostel at about 30 to 40 minutes before the rest came in and we even played dodgeball while waiting. But what touched me the most were 2 things.
1. Their spirit. They were sporting to dance in the middile of Chinatown point when the task states they had to do the Chicken dance while the group leader takes a video (Heh).
2. On the last day, the EXCO (also the group leaders) had to stay back while the rest had their dinner for briefing of sorts. And it took relatively long. But when I went down to the hostel canteen, I saw Group 6, sitting down, 3 guys on one side, 3 girls on the other, forks and spoons on the table and a blue chair at the head of the table. They were waiting for me to start eating. It was very very nice of them to do that and I'm getting all emotional and all now. But thank you very much guys, it's an act I'd never forget!
The camp saw a display of care and concern for each other, regardless of their groups and differences. It saw teamwork, and a vision for a better school in 2007. It saw 50+ people with a dream to fulfill, and we'd go all out to fulfill it, no matter how hard the road is and what obstacles we face. It was a spiritual camp of sorts, with all of us having a deeper understanding and passion for what we're doing. We believe in what we do, and we're going to make it happen. Hope the hard work we're going to face and the cynics that are always all around won't dampen our passion.
In all honesty, it was the most fun educational camp I have had. And what a nice ending to the last camp of year 2006.
Pictures will be up when I get it from TJ :D
